If you have a DoorKing slide gate, you’re dealing with steel rollers that ride a track – typically 4-inch or 6-inch diameter wheels with sealed bearings, depending on which DoorKing slide operator and gate frame was installed. If you have a swing gate, the hinges are heavy steel weld-on or bolt-on assemblies, and the weight of the gate sits entirely on them.

The compatibility gotcha we see often in Orange: many DoorKing swing gates sold in the 1990s and early 2000s used 4-inch barrel hinges with a specific bolt pattern, and a generic 4-inch hinge from a hardware store won’t line up without re-drilling the post. That re-drilling weakens the post over time. We match the original bolt pattern or we don’t install it. For rollers, the axle diameter matters as much as the wheel size – most residential DoorKing slide gates run a 1-inch axle, but heavier estate gates occasionally have 1.25-inch axles.
